Class Attributes

Some classes at UTSA have tags assigned, also known as attributes, which allow students to identify characteristics of a course. Attributes also help students customize their search for particular courses.

Types of Class Attributes

Attribute Definition
Searchable on the Class Schedule
Developmental This course is intended for students not having met college readiness status.
Finish at UT Courses This course is part of the Finish@UT Program.
Free Textbooks This course will use textbooks and/or course materials that will be made available to the student at no cost.
Grad Doctoral Level Course This is a Graduate Level Course (Master’s or Doctoral Level).
Honors College Course This course is part of the Honors Program which may have stricter and more rigorous requirements. This course may be restricted to students in the Honors Program.
Low Cost Textbooks This course will use textbooks and/or course materials that are considered to be “low cost.”
Lower Division Course Undergraduate course that is generally for freshman and sophomore level students (1000 and 2000 courses).
Service Learning Course This course includes a service learning component.
Upper Division Course Undergraduate course that is generally for junior and senior level students (3000 and 4000 courses).

American History This course may satisfy all or part of the American History Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
CLEP Examination Credit for this course may be earned through successful completion of a CLEP Examination.
Communication This course may satisfy all or part of the Communication Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
Component Area Option This course may satisfy all or part of the Component Area Option Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
Creative Arts This course may satisfy all or part of the Creative Arts Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
DPS Background Checks A criminal history background check is necessary for registration in this course.
Dual Enrollment Course This course is restricted to students who are currently part of a dual enrolled program with an approved high school.
Field Placement This course may require a field-based experience.
Government-Political Science This course may satisfy all or part of the Government-Political Science Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
Language, Philosophy & Culture This course may satisfy all or part of the Language, Philosophy, & Culture Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
Life and Physical Sciences This course may satisfy all or part of the Life and Physical Sciences Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
Mathematics This course may satisfy all or part of the Mathematics Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
ROTC Course This course is for students in the Air Force or Army Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Social & Behavioral Sciences This course may satisfy all or part of the Social & Behavioral Sciences Core Curriculum Area Requirement.
Title can change on section The title of this course may differ from other sections with the same Subject and Course Number depending on the topic.
