The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) offers scholarships and financial programs for Texans.
Texas First Scholarship Program
The Texas First Program recognizes high-achieving students designed to keep Texas’ best and brightest on a direct track to a postsecondary pathway. Students can accelerate their path to college and earn up a one year in scholarship dollars to attend UT San Antonio. Eligible students can graduate early with the Distinguished Level of Achievement and receive a scholarship.
Program Details
Students who graduate early and earn a Texas First Diploma receive a one-year scholarship. Students who graduate two or more semesters before their class receive a two-semester scholarship. Students who graduate one semester early receive a one-semester scholarship. Students may also be eligible for additional financial aid at participating institutions. Eligibility is determined by your high school counselor. UT San Antonio does not determine eligibility for this scholarship.
The Texas First Program does not guarantee automatic admission for students. Students who graduate early with a Texas First Diploma may apply to any college or university they choose. However, the scholarship will only apply toward the participating universities.
The scholarship offer will expire at the end of the first academic year following a student’s graduation, so students are encouraged to attend college directly after high school.
How do I apply for this scholarship?
Please visit with your high school counselor and they will determine if you are eligible. UT San Antonio does not determine eligibility for this scholarship.
How do I notify UT San Antonio that I am a recipient of this scholarship?
No action is required by the student who received the Texas First Scholarship to notify UT San Antonio. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board will provide a list to UT San Antonio. Once UT San Antonio receives the information from THECB, students will be notified through their university @my.utsa.edu email.
