Citizenship Issue

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not have enough information to confirm that you are an eligible noncitizen to receive federal student aid. Only U.S. citizens and certain eligible non-citizens qualify to receive federal aid. You must provide proof of eligible noncitizenship before you can receive federal student aid. To prove eligible noncitizenship, you must come in person and present originals of any of the following to One Stop Enrollment Center:

  • Permanent Residency Card
  • I-94 that’s been stamped for permanent residency
  • Proof you’ve been granted asylum or refugee status

A copy will be made of the original upon submission. Copies submitted by mail, fax or email will not be sufficient to satisfy this requirement.  If you do not submit the required information you may not be eligible for federal student aid.

If you are a U.S. citizen, please provide our office with documentation of your U.S. citizenship.

If you have further questions, please contact One Stop Enrollment Center at (210) 458-8000 or toll-free at (800) 669-0919 or send an email to onestop@utsa.edu.
